Cristopher Marshall 2:I can hear people typing but I dont think that anyone can see or hear me...
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:I can see you
Dr. Attaway:Can't find my camera this morning so I may not be on camera. Bummer! I even put on make-up! LOL
jennifer Blankenship:I can see you

Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:I can hear you too Dr. Abernathy
Julie Cummings:We can see you
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:I do not have a camera, and trust me, you should thank me:)
Cristopher Marshall 2:yes, week 4
Dr. Attaway:Ha! Found my camera!
Kay Abernathy:Web 2.0 Tools -- Cool Tools for Schools
Delia_Barajas:do we just add each part of the assignment to the end of the directions besides the blog and discussion board?
Julie Cummings:I notice that in another conference there was some talk about using forms from another course what were they?
Cleveland lee:I can see you all and hear you as well.
Julie Cummings:Yes
Kara Landgrebe:When using the TK20 program, do we need to create a file for each internship activity that we complete or will the summary logs suffice?
Julie Cummings:Yes that is helpful
Dr. Attaway:TK20@lamar.edu
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:This is my 11th course - so I am almost finished! My question is when is the deadline for completing all the course embedded as well as supervisor internship logs?
Kara Landgrebe:Thank you so much.
Cleveland lee:This is my 10th course. I haev to take the LCE before entering my 11th class correct?
Julie Cummings:No we still have to pay the difference. They are just adding it at the end of the courses.
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:Thank you - I will have it completed!
Kara Landgrebe:Typically, when will we receive the information on when the LCE is available for us to take?
Robert Leidner:Thank you for those comments, I had the same question as Kristen.
Julie Cummings:I took my after course 6 I think.
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:Just want to make sure, our deadline for graduation in May is to have coursework completed by 4/2. That is the day we end our course. Will I still be able to graduate if grades are not finalized by 4/2?
Dr. Attaway:Here it is again for those who just joined:http://sites.google.com/site/luedlead/
Julie Cummings:The videos are very helpful.
Wendell Ishee:Thanks for the info on the videos. This will help
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:This is my 11th course.. 5398 will end on 4/2
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:Yes, for me too
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:yes
Cristopher Marshall 2:goodness you just scared several of us...
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:me too!!!
Cleveland lee:Was Kara's question regarding receiving information on when the LCE is available for us to take answered?
Cleveland lee:Ok. Thank you. I will do that.
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:This is a question that I have asked several times in several different web conferences as well as in e-mail and I have never received a definitive answer:
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:oops, here comes the question
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:I have posted everything to the e-portfolio, do I still have to post to TK20?
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:ok, thank you
Robert Leidner:do we have to log them into both the epic and tk20 then?
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:we have all been posting to epic
Julie Cummings:Yes
Wendell Ishee:I was told early in the internship to put everything in TK20
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:but we are in our 11th course
Cristopher Marshall 2:I have a question about this week's assignment. The assignment is in four parts. I have typed up the essays to answer the questions and then went to the discussion board last night. I saw a couple of people had done action plans using the table like before, so I added that as part of my assignment at the end. Is this ok?
Cleveland lee:I am in EA 1264. I signed in as a guest.
Dr. Attaway:So just to make sure this is clear, you do need to post to TK20.
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:Christopher, I only did mine in a table, not really an essay format. Im not done yet, so I would like to know if there is a preference
Cristopher Marshall 2:I assume that we will get notifications if we have left something off of TK20 by accident. I have been putting everything in EPIC like clockwork, but TK20 has been a bit confusing since it did come in after we had started.
Steve Reaves:Is there a document anywhere that has a check list for TK20 to make sure we have everything we need? I am trying to stay on top of it.
Julie Cummings:Great question Steve
Kara Landgrebe:In TK20 there is a spreadsheet that you can save that has a copy of all of the course embedded internship logs.
Cristopher Marshall 2:That is what is so nice about EPIC...it's all right there as tabs and folders. We can see what we have uploaded and what we have not.
Julie Cummings:Good to know Kara
Kara Landgrebe:yes
Steve Reaves:I have that, didn't know if there was anything else.
Jennifer Blankenship:Thanks Kara
Steve Reaves:Thank you
Cristopher Marshall 2:Kara, where did you say the spreadsheet template was?
Kara Landgrebe:If you do not have a copy of the spreadsheet, I will upload it to the Week 4 discussion board now.
Julie Cummings:Yes thank you.
Cristopher Marshall 2:you rock!!!
Cristopher Marshall 2:oh, thats right...im in 1254
Kara Landgrebe:Yes. Give me a second and I will find the section number
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:I am in 1255
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:I would like it too
Julie Cummings:Dr. Abernathy do you need my email address?
Stephen Doing:That would be great!
Julie Cummings:jlcummings15@gmail.com
Robert Leidner:Iam also in 1255
Cristopher Marshall 2:that would be extremely helpful. Thank you.
Kara Landgrebe:I'm in 1270. I have just uploaded it to that discussion board.
Julie Cummings:That would be wonderful.
Jennifer Blankenship:Were you at the TCEA conference in Austin?
Stephen Doing:Thanks Kara
Jennifer Blankenship:My husband was there, he loved it!
Cristopher Marshall 2:Our campus technology specialist was there too.
Anita Byrd:Thanks Kara!
Julie Cummings:Yes, I told my principal we need to send the core teachers not the tech people.
Cristopher Marshall 2:This is changing the subject, but has anyone used the website socrative.com? It's a slick tech tool. It turns kid's phones/devices into CPS clickers...greatness.
Cristopher Marshall 2:incredibly easy!!!
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:oh cool Chris
Julie Cummings:Oh my goodness! that is great.
Julie Cummings:2.0 is more interactive
Cristopher Marshall 2:for socrative, I had created an account, made a quick interactive quiz and tested it out with my phone in about 15 minutes! The great thing is that the teacher does not have to create individual user accounts.
Dr. Attaway:I may be on the road tomorrow and Monday and may not make the next two web conferences. I will try to be at the hotelhome by then. I apologize.
Dr. Attaway:WOW! Chris! I will send that on to other teachers I know who will love that!!
Robert Leidner:was that one surveymonkey or something like that?
Cristopher Marshall 2:I'm looking at the reflection question for week5, and I do not see the reflection question specific to web.2.0. They are all general question.
Julie Cummings:Hope you go somewhere where it is warmer.
Anne Townsend EA1262:Do the kids actually post answers? I think mine would try to be funny and post bad words, etc
Cristopher Marshall 2:ok...you're right. I did get them all early. I'll go back.
Cristopher Marshall 2:you can do t/f, multiple choice, short answer, one at a time, student paced, etc...
Julie Cummings:The students are eager to show you what they know.
Cristopher Marshall 2:the kids love it. oh, it also produces an excel spreadsheet with right an wrong answers highlighted.
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:Im having trouble with something.... may you all can help
Cristopher Marshall 2:frisco isd up north of dallas
Dr. Attaway:I was on the Mexican border last week and just got in from Connecticut Friday a.m. where it was 9 degrees last night. My sinuses are wondering what is going on? LOL!
Dr. Attaway:Frisco has an excellent attitude toward technology use in the classroom - love that BYOT
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:Im working on a flipped class model. This is where I load my lectures as a video and post them on moodle. My kids can watch them on a computer or netbook, but I want to be able to load the video so they can see them on their phone.
Anne Townsend EA1262:Cristopher, do you have trouble keeping the kids focused with their phones out. Mine are absolutely obsessed with facebook and games. I have trouble using the phones with curriculum because they are so distracted
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:Right now, I cant find a format that can work for moodle and kids can see it on a phone.
Dr. Attaway:Great, Cyndy!!! Love that!
Julie Cummings:We do too.
Cristopher Marshall 2:our district just implemented a device policy. I teach jrs and srs, so they have a little better grasp of when to have them out and when not to.
Anne Townsend EA1262:I have jrs and srs too. It is non-stop gossip on their phones. I wish I knew how to teach them responsibility a little bit better. Although, our staff isn't much better. They act the same way in meetings.
Dr. Attaway:I guess it is a classroom management issue for the future...setting the expectation for use and losing privileges when they cannot maturely use their devices. Hope I spelled all of that right!
Cristopher Marshall 2:You can use the devices as warm ups or exit ticket type things.
Cristopher Marshall 2:Having specific times sometimes helps with those issues.
Wendell Ishee:Good info Cristopher. I am going to play with this
Anne Townsend EA1262:I'm playing devil's advocate here. Implementation can be tough
Dr. Attaway:I like that Dr. A, "digital citizenship" and "responsible use policy."
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:All our students have netbooks, from 5th grade to 12th grade. They will find a way to chat without phones. There are so many ways for them to communicate. One key is keeping them engaged and monitering them. You really have to be working the class to stay on top of every kid having a laptop
Julie Cummings:It just makes sense.
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:Northwest ISD
Cristopher Marshall 2:What's getting to be an interesting thing now is that kids with ipad pull up the notes and assignments from the class website, so they need to have their device out and it becomes a trust/faith issue.
Cyndy Cox EA 1257:Oh WOW! didnt realize that. Karla Burkhalter
Julie Cummings:It sure elimates excuses for not having their work done.
Cristopher Marshall 2:Their ipad2 become their textbook, their notebook, their homework, their reviews. Some of the apps they have are superslick and really neat.
Dr. Attaway:Dr. Jenkins said, Summary logs suffice. I just emailed him.
Robert Leidner:our high school has actually provided a student network and rolled out a policy that allows our students to bring their own devices to use in class. It is up to the teachers discretion to when and how they are used.
Cristopher Marshall 2:please elaborate on what you are talking about what Dr. Jenkins was clarifying?
Julie Cummings:Do you know how difficult it is to establish a student network?
Dr. Attaway:What district are you in Robert, I may have missed that.
Julie Cummings:We are a two A school.
Julie Cummings:I was asking I did not know.
Robert Leidner:surely, im in highland park
Dr. Attaway:A quote from his email : Summary logs suffice! Dr. Steve JenkinsLamar UniversityDepartment chairmanEducational Leadership
Robert Leidner:we just rolled that out in January
Dr. Attaway:Thanks, Robert
Dr. Attaway:I will check.
Julie Cummings:I was thinking that a student network would be something our school could do, i am not sure of the cost or set up obligations.
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:Chris - have you been writing the 137 logs in epic?
Julie Cummings:Thank you that is great!
Cristopher Marshall 2:yes, I've been doing the course based and the campus based logs in EPIC.
Anita Byrd:What is the name of that school again close to Tyler area?
Robert Leidner:thats how ours is, and our students are supposed to register theirs with the school
Dr. Attaway:The Lamar Server is very slow today so I hope we get his response before we close. If not, we can include that info in an announcement.
Wendell Ishee:White Oak
Anita Byrd:Thanks Wendell!
Kay Abernathy:White Oak and Klein
Dr. Attaway:It just went through so I am expecting his response.
Anita Byrd:thanks :)
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:Thanks Dr. Attaway!
Cristopher Marshall 2:Thanks everyone! Good stuff!
Stephen Doing:Thanks Dr.Abernathy and Dr. Attaway
Julie Cummings:Thank you, Dr. Abernathy
Robert Leidner:Thank ya'll very much!
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:Thank you for answering our questions Dr. Abernathy!
Anita Byrd:Thank you, Dr. Abernathy! Very informative
Julie Cummings:Have a safe trip Dr. Attaway
Jennifer Blankenship:Thank you!!
Steve Reaves:Thank you have a great day
Delia_Barajas:Thank you
Dr. Attaway:Thanks!
Kristen Lynam - EA1255 2:I thought you did hit record
Reflection: In reflecting upon the web conference it is easy to see what a helpful collaboration tool this can be for teachers and students as well as for administrators. There were some very helpful questions and answers about tk-20 and epic. There was also a lot of excitement from everyone as we look forward to the completion of this educational journey that we have been on. There has been a ton of confusion about tk-20. It will be helpful to have the spread sheet posted within our discussion board to help guide me and who ever is lucky enough to help me navigate through this tk-20 portfolio. I can honestly say this journey has been very fun and enlightening for me, but I do not like the tk-20 confusion. I hope there will be some flexibility regarding this portfolio. This class has been very educational and helpful to point out future professional learning as Texas education heads to twenty-first century classrooms.
